Terms of use

Lexpad is in early access. These terms are short on purpose and will grow with the service.

The service

  • Lexpad is free. Lexpad Pro is an optional paid subscription for more AI-written cards and more notebooks. The free notebook stays free. See pricing.
  • We may change or pause features while the service is in early access. Your notebook stays exportable throughout.
  • The service is provided as is. We work to keep it available and your data safe, but we cannot promise uninterrupted service.

Your account

  • One account per person. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your sign-in.
  • You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age in your country, to create an account.
  • You may ask us to delete your account at any time.

Your content

  • What you write in your notebooks is yours. We store and process it only to run the service for you.
  • Cards written by the AI are yours to edit, keep or delete. Check them; a language model can be wrong.
  • Do not use Lexpad to store or share content that is unlawful or that you do not have the right to use.
  • Lexpad Pro is a subscription that renews automatically until cancelled. Prices, what is included and how billing works are on the pricing page.
  • On the web, payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record, under Paddle's terms as well as these. In the Android app, payments are processed by Google Play under its terms. The iOS app is in preparation; when it sells Pro, payments in it are processed by Apple through the App Store, as set out under The iPhone app.
  • You may cancel at any time and keep the plan until the end of the paid period. Refunds follow our refund policy, which gives a full refund within 14 days of a first payment.
  • We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; a change never applies to a period already paid.

The iPhone app

Buying Pro in the iPhone app

  • If you buy Lexpad Pro inside the iPhone app, Apple processes the payment through the App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
  • The subscription renews automatically for the same length of period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel it in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Billing, cancellation and refunds for purchases made in the iPhone app are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. To ask for a refund, follow Apple's refund instructions. Our refund policy says what we do as well.

Apple's licence terms

  • Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Standard EULA) applies to the iPhone app, unless these terms say otherwise. Where these terms do apply to the iPhone app instead, the points below apply too.
  • These terms are between you and Lexpad only, not Apple. Lexpad, not Apple, is solely responsible for the iPhone app and its content.
  • You may use the iPhone app on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions allow.
  • Apple has no obligation at all to provide maintenance or support for the iPhone app. Questions and support go to us (see Contact).
  • If the iPhone app fails to conform to a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app itself, if any. To the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses from a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility, not Apple's.
  • Lexpad, not Apple, is responsible for any claims you or a third party have about the iPhone app or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
  • If a third party claims that the iPhone app or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Lexpad, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country that is subject to a United States Government embargo, or that the United States Government has designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • When you use the iPhone app, you must also follow the terms of any third-party service you use with it, such as your mobile network's.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms as they apply to the iPhone app. Once you accept these terms, Apple has the right (and is taken to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

Fair use

AI card generation has a daily and monthly allowance per account so the service stays affordable for everyone. Automated or bulk access to the service is not permitted.
