Install guide
Install Lexpad in Brave,
Opera or Vivaldi
Brave, Opera and Vivaldi are built on Chromium, so they install extensions from the Chrome Web Store. There each shows its own button: Add to Brave, Add to Opera or Add to Vivaldi. Here are the steps for each, taken from the browser’s own help.
The extension is free and works with a free Lexpad account. After you add it, click Connect to Lexpad and sign in, or create your account. You never type a password into the extension.

Then connect it to your notebook
The same in all three browsers. The extension is free and works with a free Lexpad account.
- Click Lexpad’s button in the toolbar and choose Connect to Lexpad.
- A small window opens the Lexpad web app. Sign in, or create a free account, and allow the connection. You never type a password into the extension.
- Reload the pages that were already open, then select a word on any page. The Lexpad card opens with its meaning; press Add to Lexpad to keep it.
Already use Lexpad in another browser? Connect each browser once. Your words live in your account, so every browser saves to the same notebook. To sign a browser out, open Settings, Account, Signed-in devices in the web app.
The three side by side
Where each browser puts things. The names are the ones each browser’s help uses.
| Browser | Installs Lexpad from | The button in the store | Lexpad’s button afterwards | Extensions page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brave | The Chrome Web Store | Add to Brave | Top right; pin it from the puzzle-piece menu | Menu, More Tools, Extensions |
| Opera | The Chrome Web Store | Add to Opera | With your other extensions | Extensions (Ctrl+Shift+E; ⌘+Shift+E on a Mac), or the cube icon in the sidebar |
| Vivaldi | The Chrome Web Store | Add to Vivaldi | The right side of the Address Bar; can move to the Panels or the Status Bar | Vivaldi Menu, Tools, Extensions (Ctrl+Shift+E; ⌃⌘E on a Mac) |
If something does not work
- Brave: the sign-in window stays blank. Brave Shields block trackers, and can block scripts, site by site. Open app.lexpad.app in a tab, click the Shields icon in the address bar and set Shields down for that site, then choose Connect to Lexpad again (Brave Help: Shields).
- Opera: no Add to Opera button. Update Opera first. Opera’s FAQ says to click Add to Opera; an older Opera help page says to add Opera’s “Install Chrome Extensions” add-on before that, so if your Opera still asks for it, add it from Opera’s add-ons store and try again (Opera Help: Customization).
- Vivaldi: no Add to Vivaldi button. Open Settings, Privacy and Security, Google Extensions, and turn on Web Store (Vivaldi Help).
- Vivaldi: Lexpad’s button is gone. It may be hidden. Use the Show/Hide hidden extensions toggle at the right of the Address Bar, then right-click Lexpad and choose Show Button. Settings, Address Bar, Extension Visibility can list hidden extensions in a drop-down instead.
- Brave: Lexpad’s button is gone. Open the puzzle-piece menu next to your extensions and pin Lexpad again.
- Nothing happens on a page that was already open. Reload the page. Lexpad starts on pages opened after it was added.
- Still stuck? Write to us, with the browser’s name and version.

Questions
Where do Brave, Opera and Vivaldi get Lexpad?
From the Chrome Web Store, the same listing Chrome uses, so you get the same version (0.5.0) and the same updates. Each browser shows its own name on the button.
Do I need a separate account for each browser?
No. Install Lexpad in each browser and connect it once with the same Lexpad account. Every browser saves to the same notebook, which you also see on the web, in the Android app and in Lexpad for Mac and Windows.
Is it free?
Yes. The extension is free on every plan and works with a free Lexpad account. Each meaning it writes uses the same AI allowance as the app: 25 AI cards a day (400 a month) on Free, 150 AI cards a day (2,000 a month) on Pro. Every new account gets Pro free for 14 days, no card needed.
What does Lexpad ask permission for?
Storage, the right-click menu, the browser’s sign-in window (to connect) and access to the Lexpad API; never your tabs, your history or permission to run remote code. Read the privacy policy.
How do I remove it?
Open the browser’s Extensions page (the steps for each browser are above) and choose Remove. Your words stay in your Lexpad account.
Can I use it on my phone?
The extension is for a computer. On a phone, add words in the Android app or the web app; they land in the same notebook.
